In 1995 I graduated from University with a Bachelor in Business Administration and Chinese (Diplom-Betriebswirtin). During that time, I stayed in China for 1 ½ years to really learn as much of people, language and culture as possible. As a start in job life, I managed my own business for Consulting Services in international B2B, not only offering help in establishing business connections between German and Chinese companies, but also training personnel in intercultural proficiencies and basic Chinese language.
In 1998 I joined General Motors in Germany (i.e. Opel) and worked from 2006 until 2018 in the area of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV), implementing the requirements of the European ELV-Directive in various EU-Member States. Main task was the continuous development and successful implementation of Opel’s recycling/recovery strategies in local markets. Take-back networks had to be developed and maintained (contract negotiations with Treatment Facilities, Shredders, Recyclers), discussions with authorities (local up to Ministerial level) took place, associations were supported.
Local requirements also had to be taken into account, in very close co-operation with – mainly – BMW, VW, Ford, Renault, Toyota, but including all vehicle manufacturers, in order to minimise cost.
Because of my China background, I was also responsible for the supervision of developments in Asia (China, Japan, Korea, etc.)
After 20 years at Opel, I decided to work on my own account, dealing with all kinds of projects – end-of-life, plastics recycling, SAP projects, legal compliance.
